Bollman Hat Company roared on during the Roaring Twenties. The 1920’s were also known as the Jazz Age. Women finally won the right to vote in 1920. Post-World War I. a divide in culture grew quickly due to Prohibition. Alcoholic beverages were illegal in the United States for the entire decade. The speakeasy culture was full of independent. cigarette-smoking. alcohol drinking women who were not afraid to express themselves and defy the law.
Flappers wore colorful cloches with beaded embellishment. The Flapper hat is a short-brimmed cloche worn by women of this decade with a growing sense of independence. A definite change from the sweet. flowery styles that dominated headwear fashion in the previous decades. the cloche is a confident style which hugs the face. Our cloche in ruby red is classic. flattering and fun!
- This hat comes in a special edition Bollman Heritage Hat Box.
